Strong business performance

Strong business performance
Dr. Stefan Sacré, new CEO at EagleBurgmann Germany
For many years, the EagleBurgmann Group has been a highly successful supplier of industrial sealing technology for a very diverse range of applications. Order intake at EagleBurgmann rose significantly during the past fiscal year. Adjusted for exchange rate effects, bookings at the end of 2010 surpassed the 2008 level. Turnover for the last fiscal year was up 20.6 % to 678.7 million Euros compared to 562.8 million Euros in the previous year. Adjusted earnings rose by roughly 57 % year-on-year. The export/domestic sales breakdown was 84.3 %/15.7 %.

“The rapid pace of the economic recovery, the cost reductions achieved during the crisis and the commitment of our employees were key contributors to the good results in 2010,” explained Dr. Stefan Sacré, new CEO at EagleBurgmann Germany. The average headcount in Germany increased to 1,168 from 1,138 in the crisis year 2009. The number of employees is now slightly above the 2008 level (1,155).
The project business in particular picked up momentum in 2010. “Our highest growth regions were in Asia and South America,” said Dr. Stefan Sacré. He took over in January 2011 from Christoph Mosmann, who joined the Senior Management team at the parent company Freudenberg & Co. in Weinheim.
2011 will be another challenging year for EagleBurgmann. The company has built up a comfortable order backlog and is working on the assumption that this trend will continue. “We have now resumed construction work on our new production building. The project had been shelved in 2009 in response to economic conditions at the time,” said Dr. Sacré. The additional production and administration capacity provided by the new building is urgently needed to cope with the increased order intake. Following completion, around 11,000 m2 of production space and 2,400 m2 of office space will be available in the new building in Eurasburg. During the course of the project, the production process is being restructured to meet market expectations for turnaround times and delivery performance.
