Ehrfeld Mikrotechnik BTS GmbH (EMB), a Bayer Technology Services GmbH company, and the Siemens Industry Automation Division jointly adapted the process control system Simatic PCS 7 LAB for use in micro process engineering, particularly for controlling the EMB modular micro reaction system. The combination of modules of EMB’s micro reaction system creates a reaction plant performing chemical synthesis to develop solutions for the chemical, pharmaceutical and life science industries. Specially tailored to laboratory requirements, the Simatic PCS 7 LAB monitors the processes of these plants; it controls, records and logs the relevant process variables such as pressure, temperature and flow rate.
