07.12.2011 – The Reach deadline for registering chemicals in the tonnage class between 100 tonnes and 1,000 tonnes per year (t/a) is set to end in precisely 18 months, i. e. on 1 June 2013. Manufacturers and importers are required to submit their registration dossiers to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) by this date. Dekra recommends ensuring the laboratory capacity required for data capture in good time.
Numerous manufacturers and importers are currently facing enormous challenges. The number of substances in the medium tonnage class between 100 and 1,000 t/a is considerably greater than in the high tonnage class. However, considerably less physical-chemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological data is available for these substances. Dekra experts are warning that companies must ensure they have laboratory capacities in good time to be able to submit the data in the registration dossier by the deadline. Companies which do not have their own specialist Reach department are particularly affected.
Dekra has been providing consultation on the topic of Reach for a number of years and is the sole representative for numerous non-EU companies. In 2011, a reputable laboratory services provider was acquired in the form of Chilworth Global in Southampton. As a result, Dekra is able to satisfy the increased requirements in terms of laboratory analysis.
As such, Dekra offers a complete Reach service from initial consultation to laboratory analysis, consortium work and dossier creation. For more information.
