The CEO of A. Friedrich Flender AG, Manfred Egelwisse, will be resigning at the end of March at his own request. He will maintain close and amicable relations with the company in the future. Effective April 1, 2010, Dipl.-Ing. Theo Maas (see picture) will take charge of the Siemens „Mechanical Drives“ Business Unit.
Manfred Egelwisse has been with A. Friedrich Flender AG for more than two decades and was significantly involved in its successful global realignment. He has been a member of Flender’s board since 1999 and, when the company was acquired by Siemens AG in 2005, he actively managed the step-by-step integration into the global Siemens organization. This integration process will be completed in the coming months with the imminent legal absorption of the company into Siemens AG.
Theo Maas (52), member of the Flender board, will succeed Manfred Egelwisse as head of the Mechanical Drives Business Unit. Theo Maas joined Siemens AG in 1981. Over the next 25 years he worked mainly in service business for the Power Generation Group. He joined A. Friedrich Flender AG in April 2006 and managed global industrial gear unit business from 2006 to 2008. Since February 2008 he has been Chief Operating Officer (COO) with responsibility for industry, production and technology.
