At the end of three busy days, Biotech China 2009 closed its doors on a positive note. A total of 5,586 visitors from 20 countries used the event as a springboard to new business. „That’s around eight percent more visitors than last year. The event has more than fulfilled all our expectations“, reported Wolfgang Lenarz, Director of Global Fairs for Deutsche Messe AG, Hannover, and co-organizer of Biotech China. „The event has firmly established itself as a focus for the bio-tech sector across Asia.“
It was encouraging to see a high proportion of visitors from outside China. Approx. 86 percent of the visitors came from Asia, while six percent were from Europe and six percent from America. The biggest contingents of visitors came from Japan, Korea and Singapore.
In terms of the number of exhibitors, the third Biotech China was able to confirm its credentials as the leading biotech showcase in Asia. No fewer than 121 companies from 11 countries exhibited their products and innovations at the Shanghai International Exhibition Center (INTEX). The exhibitors, including some big name companies such as ESCO, FOSUN, Malvern and Millipore, occupied a total net area of 1,317 m². Most of the exhibitors came from China, Belgium and the USA, but there were also delegations from Belgium, Korea and Japan.
The fourth Biotech China will take place in Shanghai again in June 2010.
