Browser based video conference system
Explosion-proof mobile communication helpers

In times of ever higher productivity, efficiency and optimisation, cooperation between mobile devices and platforms is particularly impor-tant. A growing number of companies are turning to mobile helpers – which make communication both simpler and faster, even in explosive atmospheres – as an effective way to solve this problem.

Author Jörg Brinkmann Managing Director, SeeITnow

SeeITnow has a longstanding reputation as a certified IT specialist in the mobile video communication sector and offers its clients tailor-made solutions for international cooperation. Mobile real-time video communication systems help experts analyse and evaluate facts rapidly – all over the world. As the size of a company and the complexity of its structures increase, the requirements for efficient corporate communications using affordable technology also rise. SeeITnow understands this situation and with the October 2014 takeover of the sales division of NytSyn, a browser based application for mobile cooperation, has taken a further step towards the mobile future. NytSyn guarantees a rapid exchange of know-how and data between experts and non-experts, regardless of their location. Thanks to audio and video transmission as well as integrated instant messaging, problems can be systematically solved without misunderstandings. Users can communicate with customers or suppliers in seconds. In order to do so, all they need is a modern web browser such as Chrome, Opera or Firefox, which they run on a mobile terminal or a desktop PC. Owing to effective encryption technology, communication is direct and confidential. NytSyn is an innovative, low-cost video conference system which allows subscribers to interact flexibly in a virtual environment and cooperate successfully in accordance with the dual control principle. NytSyn stands for pioneering video communication technology without infrastructure software.
Explosion-proof Android smartphone
Working in explosive atmospheres (e. g. in the chemical, oil and gas industries) is very problematic and cost-intensive. After all, in situations of acute danger or emergency – as at all other times – lone workers must be able to contact colleagues using modern means of communication. On large factory premises, technically advanced GPS tracking devices are required for localisation and navigation (radios, pagers, etc.). Other technical equipment such as digital cameras and mobile computers is also necessary in order to record and document maintenance work. In short, to meet the stipulated minimum standards, skilled personnel have to work with heavy equipment – in addition to their personal protective gear – and avail of the technical know-how for all of it.
With more than ten years of experience, I.safe Mobile is an established specialist and partner for the development and certification of explosion-proof mobile communication equipment. Innovation 2.0 is an explosion-proof Android smartphone from I.safe Mobile which meets all the above-mentioned requirements – for example in harsh industrial environments – and thus combines numerous functions in one device. The integration of Android means it is possible to utilise standard IT software that is already available in the market. This outdoor smartphone is dust-proof, water and shock-resistant and generally designed for professional use. Innovation 2.0 offers all the features of modern mobile telephony in explosive atmo-spheres (certified for Atex zones 1/21 and IP 67): push-to-talk, near field communication, dual-SIM technology, bright 3.2” HVGA display, capacitive touch screen, 5 MP auto-focus camera with LED flash, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSPA+, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, slot for micro-SD cards up to 32 GB and very long rechargeable battery life. An emergency call function, which triggers an automatic alarm chain in an emergency, is included as standard. Users have direct access to business applications and any other functions they need when on the move. Thanks to Innovation 2.0, the recorded data is returned to the operating system as quickly as possible. Through the connection to a mobile device manager, all data can be securely encrypted. Employees have access to up-to-date information in Outlook (e-mails, diary, contacts, etc.) no matter where they happen to be. The surprisingly light weight of just 245 g confirms the initial impression that users benefit from having significantly less equipment to carry around with them.
Future through cooperation
In order to create technological synergies and further strengthen the wireless infrastructure, SeeITnow and I.safe Mobile have decided to cooperate in the future and offer two compatible products or services. Innovation 2.0 meets all the requirements of the browser based NytSyn application. By supporting Android as the operating system on Innovation 2.0, NytSyn can easily be used as a browser based video communication platform. Combined with NytSyn, Innovation 2.0 represents a simple-to-integrate and thus cost-effective communication solution for companies. Thanks to the collabo-rative system, all corporate users have a mobile connection to the existing IT infrastructure regardless of their location. Since the use of smartphones is familiar from everyday life, an elaborate introduction to Innovation 2.0 and NytSyn can be dispensed with. Together with NytSyn, Innovation 2.0 offers real added value in explosive atmospheres.
