Process Engineering
Micronising temperature sensitive products

Due to a large variety of demands and parameters of different target groups, contract micronising of temperature sensitive products is a special challenge to be faced. Additionally, those products tend to plasticise very quickly when exposed to the occurring friction heat during the process. To face this challenge, Ebbecke developed a grinding concept for these kinds of products. The environmental production conditions have also been optimised. The whole prod-uction area at the Schoeneck location is continuously dehumidificated and the temperature is monitored. Moreover, the prod-ucts are cooled in special cooling chambers to ensure a defined product temperature at processing. Effectivity awareness in the plant for temperature sensitive products is omnipresent up to the feeding section, where a self-developed, negatively-conical bunker with extraction application allows for smooth feeding of a downstream dosing screw. At the same time, anticaking agents are fed directly into the grinding chamber. The geometry of the plant is based on a state-of-the-art rotor with special blades, which ensure a most effective grinding using an impact and sheer forces combination. The choice of the different grain sizes is made by means of an exchangeable screen.

Thanks to the integration of a reversible extruding screw, the plant keeps operating continuously even while the containers are changed. This is supported by a dedusting unit, which is attached to the housing on different points.
