Perfect dosing with vibration
The feeder family is getting bigger

The growing number and diversity of applications for plastics has increased quality requirements in the industry. Precise feeding of individual components – such as polymers, additives, fillers, etc. – that are fed into the extruder is essential to achieving and maintaining this high level of quality in the long term. The short time these components staying in the extruder calls for very high consistency in feeding.

Precisely-weighed and harmonised formulas are an absolute necessity in the compound and masterbatch industry and place tough demands on feeders. Not only do they have to be perfectly harmonised with the properties of raw materials and feed rates, they also require flexibility. Schenck Process has been offering precisely coordinated system components for many years in the form of its Proflex C- and Mechatron loss-in-weight feeder ranges. Now the product range for the compound industry has been expanded. The Proflex V, a vibro feeder with a variable discharge length, has been added to the Proflex product family. Proflex V’s two alternative discharge lengths offer the highest possible flexibility in system integration. Rotating the stainless-steel feed hopper in increments of 90° also allows for four different discharge positions. That makes this vibro feeder for granulate, pellets and grit particularly flexible in use and user friendly while saving space during assembly. Like all loss-in-weight feeders in the product family, Proflex V’s asymmetric design allows for space-saving paired alignment. The direction of discharge can easily be changed at any time.

In addition to the tried-and-tested Proflex product range, the Mechatron Min was specially designed for the feeding of the smallest quantities and is perfectly suited to the requirements of laboratory use. In future it will also be available in the form of the Mechatron Min Ex, which is suitable for use settings with a high risk of explosion. The Mechatron LQ liquid loss-in-weight feeder has also been added to the product portfolio. It can be used for the dosing of liquid additives, e. g. oil and others.
Low maintenance required
The Mechatron Coni-Steel vibration feeder from Schenck Process is supplied with a maintenance-free dosing chute. The specially designed geometry of the dosing chute offers optimum conditions for high dosing quality in the delivery of bulk materials. The dosing system is most effective when used for the gravimetric dosing of bulk materials. The Mechatron Coni-Steel is particularly suited to free-flowing bulk goods – whether pellets, granules, grit, glass fibres, or free-flowing powder. The feed rate varies from approximately 0.3 to 20,000 dm³/h, depending on the properties of the material and the specific application process.
In addition to high-precision, consistent weighing, the primary benefit is the low level of maintenance required. Disassembly for cleaning and product changes is quick and simple. In the feed range of at least 1:80 no substitution of dosing components is required. Further properties of the vibration feeder include its pulse-free material output, its non-contact drive technology, the very small size of the drive components, and its stainless steel dosing and feed hoppers.
