Reichelt Chemietechnik presents its modified elastomer TPE as an innovation in the field of tubing technology for pharmaceutical research and production. In terms of structure and technical or mechanical behaviour, elastic TPE belongs to a group of materials categorisable between plastic and rubber, combining the positive characteristics of both plastics and elastomers. Like thermoplastics, TPEs are made plastic by means of the introduction of heat, and exhibit elastic properties again once they are cooled. Whereas elastomers undergo chemical integration, physical integration is the case with TPEs. Reichelt uses a styrene-block copolymer in manufacturing its Thomafluid-High-Med-TPE-S-special tubing. The tubing has excellent elastic properties, is free of plasticisers and sterilisable by hot air up to +134 °C, by gamma irradiation and ethylene oxide. It has the following approvals: USP-Class IV and 6.6.1., ISO 10993-5 as well as ISO 10993-10 and 10993-11.
