Boge has fundamentally redesigned the water cooled, oil free compressing screw compressors of the SO series in the 18.6 to 26 m3/min performance range (from 110 to 200 kW motor rating). The new models of the SO 150-2 to SO 269-2 series are able to produce more compressed air at identical motor output. Furthermore, the Boge designers paid particular attention to detail with regard to vibration decoupling of the single component parts. The new series runs significantly quieter than its predecessor models, which is also due to its further improved sound insulation and a total reduction of the sound level of up to 10 %.
The number of component parts was also reduced because of the fact that the improved air flow in the compressor allowed the abandonment of several pipes and consoles. Due to these constructional optimi-sations not only the efficiency of the compressors but also their maintainability were improved. For example all coolers are now a lot easier to access.
While remodeling the existing version, the designers were able to rely on an extremely high efficiency level because the 2-stage mode of operation of the SO series, which is available in both an 8 and 10 bar version, provides the prerequisites for a very low specific energy demand.
