Munsch fabricated the MPC magnetically-coupled pumps for hazardous fluids of PFA. Thick-walled PFA volute casings (wall thicknesses of around 10 mm) guarantee wear reserves in abrasive and aggressive service conditions. CFK/PFA double-wall spacer cans offer improved diffusion tightness and chemical resistance as against CFK/PTFE spacer cans. Plain bearings of high-purity silicon carbide provide universal chemical resistance. Combined with an optimum design of the bearing components such as a single-piece bearing sleeve, they can tolerate temporary dry running throughout their service life. CFD-modelling ensures an optimum hydraulic design translating into reduced operating costs. Even better results are achieved when using the turbulence modelling technique which allows an even higher resolution of the local flow fields. In this way, smallest eddy currents and flow separations can be visualised in loss-prone zones.
