The MBS100 from Burgmann is a component seal for installation spaces in accordance with EN 12756 (DIN 24960). The core area of use for this universal seal is in the chemicals industry, particularly for media containing solids and highly viscous and aggressive media. The Inconel 625 material used for the bellows is highly resistant to chemicals, especially in acid environments. In terms of structural design, the MBS100 is similar to the MFL85N bellows seal. The seal is independent of the direction of rotation and designed principally for external pressurisation. The rotating bellows unit is comprised of a bellows carrier, the metal bellows, a seal face carrier with shrink-fitted seal face, and is fastened to the shaft by three grub screws. The metal bellows features optimised laminate elements and is balanced hydraulically. It ensures both the cushioning and the dynamic sealing of the seal face. The bellows seal does not have a dynamically loaded secondary seal. Any possibility of the seal face getting hung up on a dirty shaft as a result of excessive O-ring friction is ruled out. The seal face is available in two different materials: Antimony-impregnated carbon graphite and pressureless-sintered silicon carbide.
