Brabender’s vibratory mass flow feeders called DualTray are available for feed rates up to 5 m³/h. The feeder consists of a free-standing mounting base accommodating a storage hopper with a metering feeder mounted at its bottom. The operating principle of the metering feeder is based on two or more cylindrical feed modules configured one above the other with built-in semicircular feed trays conveying in opposite directions. Applying vibration induces flow and makes the ingredient flow downwards across the vibrating trays like a cascade, while the flow rate is controlled by variable vibration. Switching the vibration off stops the ingredient flow instantaneously. Hence, the feeder is also suitable for batching. As it does not have any rotating parts, it does not only feed powders and pellets but also bulk ingredients with grains of different sizes, lumpy materials and fibres. In addition, the feeder is designed for easy dismantling and quick cleaning. For removal, the feed unit can be disconnected from the vibration drive simply by releasing a fixation handle. The individual feed modules are interconnected by clamping rings and can easily be separated.
