Great interest in packaging trade fair interpack 2011

The interpack 2011 goes on from the successful 2008 event, and booking levels for the total exhibition space are at a similar level. The last interpack filled all 19 halls of the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Grounds to full capacity with packaging and process solutions for companies in industries ranging from food and beverages, confectionary and baked goods to pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, non-food consumer goods, industrial goods and related services. In 2011, about 2700 exhibitors from some 60 countries are expected.

The interpack’s standing as a leading international fair is demonstrated not only by the lively interest displayed by exhibitors but also by the future-oriented special topics it offers. In addition to the Innovationparc Packaging centring on Quality of Life, visitors will have the opportunity in 2011 to see the Metal Packaging Plaza – staged for the first time – as well as a special exhibition and a congress entitled Save Food.

Sustainability, safety and convenience
As the leading packaging trade fair, interpack presents innovations along the entire value chain. Three key trends of relevance to virtually all players in the industry have been emerging here: sustainability, safety and convenience. Sustainability has long been more than just a buzz word and is increasingly becoming a competitive factor. In production, sustainability means taking all possible measures to reduce the consumption of operating resources and process auxiliaries, e.g. by saving energy in the form of electricity or minimising the required material input.
Packagings also provide consumer safety by ensuring the seamless traceability of packaged goods such as pharmaceuticals and food prod-ucts. In packaging machinery, hygienic design is assuming an ever-greater role, focusing on minimising biological risks during processing and assuring easy cleaning of the machines themselves.
Global changes in society, with more and more single-person households and higher percent-ages of women working outside the home, are resulting in changes of lifestyles and habits. Food-on-the-go products, snacks or pre-cooked meals are becoming more and more popular. In addition, the range of available foods is steadily increasing. This trend towards more convenience has been going on for years and the packaging sector has to adjust to it, by providing packages that are easy to handle – also when on the go – or smaller pack sizes. For packaging machinery manufacturers, this means a rising demand for systems and lines that can process a wide range of packaging styles with quick and easy changes of product, volume and formats.
Informations for a trade fair visit
At www.interpack.com, visitors can find useful tools to help them plan their trade fair agenda efficiently. Examples include the exhibitor database where they can generate a personalised hall floorplan, a matchmaking function for establishing contact with exhibitors, and information on all new developments being presented by the participating companies. The interpack services can also be accessed by mobile via http://mobile.interpack.com. For the first time, visitors can also download an iPhone app (as a feature of the Messe Düsseldorf app), with which they can zoom right in to any individual stand on the interpack floorplan and find neatly presented information about the specific exhibitor, such as stand number, contact details, etc.
Interpack will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from 12 to 18 May 2011. Tickets are already on sale. Via online ticketing, a one-day admission ticket costs Euro 49,- (Euro 55,- at the gate). A three-day ticket can be purchased via online ticketing for Euro 99,- (Euro 120,- at the gate). All online tickets can be printed out at home. All admission tickets and exhibitor passes to interpack 2011 entitle the bearer to free travel to the trade fair and back on the buses, trains and trams of the regional public transport network VRR (Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr) which also serves towns in a large radius around Messe Düsseldorf.
