On the basis of the Ertec 400 developed for Profinet-IRT, there are two powerful Interbus proxies from Phoenix Contact. They differ only in the construction of the Interbus master: The FL NP PND-4TX IB uses copper wiring for the Interbus system. The FL NP PND-4TX IB-LK employs fiber optic cabling. Interbus offers the full functional range of Generation 4. A proxy can address up to 8192 I/O signals in both input and output directions, for a maximum of up to 512 I/O modules. All Interbus diagnostic functions, right down to the individual circuit diagnostics, are mapped to Profinet mechanisms. 500-kilobaud and 2-megabaud systems can be connected. Profinet supports update rates right down to 1 ms. This allows the proxy to be employed when migrating applications to Profinet, making it possible to integrate anything from small Interbus segments to complete networks.
