The main techniques used for the sample measurements are differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), thermomechanical analysis (TMA) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). In special cases, combined on-line techniques such as single differential thermal analysis (SDTA), visual monitoring, and evolved gas analysis are employed. The thermosets application handbook is published in two separate volumes: Volume 1 presents an overview with a brief description of the various thermal analysis techniques used to analyze thermosetting materials. This is followed by an introduction to the chemistry and applications of thermosetting resins. Volume 2 concentrates on practical examples and discusses the results obtained from more than 10 different types of resin systems including epoxies, polyesters, formaldehyde resins and polyurethanes.
