Wilhelm Werner has finished several case studies of system renewal processes for the preparation of purified water where the materials stainless steel and PVDF-HP have been compounded. PVDF is a high purity plastic. The surface quality of Ra <0,25 µm (even in the weld), the physiological aspect (ion- and TOC leach out) and the thermal and chemical stability offer a significant surplus value to the user: The double packed material, produced under clean room conditions, is welded under laminar flow and doesn´t need any further treatment. The produced water quality is available immediately after the system-start without additional rinses. Purified Water is in its validated quality direct available in a loop line of PVDF. There is no risk of the well known roughing effect. Of course PVDF-HP is the choice no.1 for water loop- and distribution systems. However: Stainless steel in 1.4404 has is special advantages, in particular in the internal pipe work of a purified water system when it is a thermal sanitisated system. Stainless steel is not extending during the heating period between the components. An additional use of balance angle and bows and other material is not necessary and the unit can be constructed more compact and smaller.
