With the Intelligent Front Module (IFM) controllers Bioengineering has introduced modularity and flexibility into measurement and control techniques. This electronical system is able to control any imaginable control-loop in biotechnological processes.
This not only leads to an optimally co-ordinated process but also to a simplified operation because of standardisation. Each control-loop is controlled by the IFM from a specially adapted module. A profibus system allows up to 31 control-loops per reactor. Set point and profile control belong to the standard equipment of the IFM but also various links between the IFM-modules for cascade control are possible.
