Due to the increasing demands regarding transport container cleanliness, not only the inside but also the outside surface has to be cleaned. The special washing cabin described here cleans the exterior surfaces and removes labels and soiling by means of hot water, delivered at 800 bar.
The washing system developed by Uraca was originally manufactured for a company in the food industry. Since the transported products had to meet hygiene regulations, efficient cleaning was necessary on both the inside and outside of the containers. The requirements relating to the product quality and external appearance of the containers were thus fulfilled. The washing system consists of an RS 724E/800 high-pressure pump unit and a soundproofed cabin. It is designed for containers 1000 mm in diameter with a height of between 1280 and 1670 mm. The loading zone is situated in front of the cabin and is accessible via a revolving door. This arrangement enables loading with a lift truck system while the high-pressure cleaning process takes place inside the cabin. The required washing programme is selected on the control panel. A sensor control system determines the container type in the cabin, into which the containers are automatically swivelled. The rotation is monitored by means of light barriers. The cleaning process starts as soon as the container is in position.
Rotating nozzle head
The washing action is performed by means of a rotating nozzle head located above the container. During the cleaning process the container is turned 360 degrees, allowing the nozzle head to clean the top and bottom surfaces. At the same time a second rotating nozzle head washes the sides. The speed of each rotary axis must be set individually for fast and thorough cleaning. The required parameters are therefore adjusted by the operator according to the degree of contamination. The intensity and duration of the cleaning process can be regulated by choosing one of ten programmes. A large number of containers can thus be handled with optimal cleaning results. The system is unique because it can be adapted to different container shapes and sizes. Most transport containers as well as production and storage tanks need to be cleaned on the inside and outside. The external appearance of the container has become more and more important due to increasing hygiene requirements.
