Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum has introduced the Turbovac SL, a line of high-reliability mechanical turbomolecular vacuum pumps designed for industrial, instrumentation and research and development applications. The Turbovac SL 80, SL 300 and SL 700 offer extreme reliability and durability under the most demanding operating conditions. Built on proven, stress-tested designs, these pumps provide outstanding vacuum performance as well as ease of operation and incorporation into customer equipment. The Turbovac SL line features:

  • Ceramic ball bearings that provide extreme durability
  • Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum’s rotor design, which includes a very precise blade configuration
  • The ability to be mounted in virtually any position or at any angle
  • A sealing system that offers high resistance to mechanical and thermal shock
  • Smart electronic and diagnostic controls
  • A newly designed space-saving housing
The Turbovac SL systems underwent rigorous trials during the design process, including testing in a 120 m drop tower at a German research institute. Experimental pods with onboard vacuum chambers were dropped from the top of the tower as part of the institute’s research into microgravity environments; the pods experienced forces up to 50 times normal gravity (50 g).
