Three in a single blow

The introduction of the standard Vesta range was followed by a steady and concerted development process designed to meet the requirements of the market for other applications. This range has now been extended to include three new variants – a tank bottom valve, a mixed matched valve for different pipe sizes and a valve block with two independently operating valves. In addition, a ring distribution system has been developed to enable product and cleaning media to be distributed within the process line in a minimum of space.

Vesta sterile valves have been specially developed for low volume flow rates – in applications from laboratory scale to highly complex process plants. The valve principle is based on the single-seat technique with a bellows as the shut-off element in contrast to diaphragm valves. This concept offers remarkable technical benefits, such as a hermetically sealed valve body, a pocket-free design and long production cycles as well as optimal cleanability and simple, safe maintenance. The valve thus meets all operational requirements for processes at the highest level.

Modular distribution system
Valve ring distribution systems based on Vesta sterile valves allow complex proces-sing using different operating, cleaning and sterilisation media. Compared with conventional systems featuring single valves or complex and expensive valve blocks, the single-seat valves in the Multiport distribution system are installed pocket-free in a ring with an appropriate annular passage cross-section. The modular design of the ring distribution system allows the configuration to be adapted to individual tasks. A maximum of six isolation valves can be located in both the inlet and return circuits. It is also possible to have differing valve sizes in one ring. The Vesta Multiport additionally permits different flow directions for the inlet and return pipework with fixed grid spacing that can be planned in advance. This has the following advantages for the plant designer:
  • Minimal costs for planning and installation
  • Qualification and validation of the system in the production plant
  • Less time required for planning, supply, installation and commissioning
Vesta Multiport systems are designed to be pocket-free and CIP compliant. They provide total drainage capability, can be installed in the smallest of spaces and set new standards in cost effectiveness.
Complete evacuation
The pocket-free design of the Vesta tank bottom valves facilitates complete evacuation of the tank and optimal CIP/SIP cleaning. Thanks to the robust design of the housing, and in particular of the housing connection flange, the valve can be welded into place without any distortion. The compact design of the tank bottom valves allows them to be fitted into the tightest of spaces. In addition, Vesta tank bottom valves are available in various designs to suit the task at hand, for example with an additional valve for CIP/SIP or drainage with a flush front shut-off (pocket-free configuration). The tank bottom valves can be supplied with a welded or flanged housing (housing connection flange) in two configurations: Model L (one outlet) or Model T (two outlets) for ring circuits.
Mixed matched sterile valves
The type HCA mixed matched sterile valve is a further development of the Vesta type C basic variant. The mixed matched type HCA is used wherever different types of connection are required in the through-flow line and the branch line. It is designed to be used as an extraction valve for pipework systems or for distribution of media. Shut-off takes place in the immediate vicinity of the through-flow line; this facilitates reliable cleaning. Type HCA step-down sterile valves allow the integration of large nominal pipework diameters with the extraction of small quantities in a trouble-free and cost-effective manner. Moreover, the improved flow paths, as well as the integration of additional sterilisation connections, limit the occurrence of dead pockets. The reduced pipework volume on the extraction side and the improved evacuation procedure are further advantages compared with conventional solutions. Vesta type HCA mixed matched sterile valves are available in the following diameters:
  • DIN range: DN 15 to 100 (through-flow line), DN 10 to 25 (branch line)
  • ISO range: ISO 17.2 to 114.3 (through-flow line), ISO 13.5 to 33.7 (branch line)
  • OD range: 3/4“ to 4“ OD (through-flow line), 1/2“ to 1“ OD (branch line)
Compact block valves
Vesta block valves are compact sterile valves for universal use with two drives that switch independently of one another. The design concept of the single-piece housing allows merging, separation or branching of various media flows in the smallest possible space. Vesta block valves offer an optimal flow path while limiting the occurrence of dead spaces. The reduced pipework volume and the improved evacuation procedure are outstanding features of the design. A variety of configurations provide a high measure of flexibility in the implementation of cost-reduced plant layouts. The block valves – a logical extension of the sterile valve series – are designed to provide a reliable process and are easy to service. The secure connection, using slotted nuts between the housing and drive, simplifies installation and the labour required for servicing. The single-piece housing is machined from solid; in this way it is possible to achieve a consistently high surface quality with minimal variation due to tolerances. Vesta block valves can be supplied in two different standard housing configurations:
  • Type HWA – housing with three connections
  • Type HXA – housing with four connections (central housing through-flow)
In contrast to design concepts with individual valves, system solutions using block valves reduce the number of parts and welded connections, helping to keep plant costs down.
