With the latest development of the Gestra traptest system for the monitoring, recording and evaluation of steam traps, the VKP 40 steam traps of all makes and types can checked and assessed for more than just steam loss. The system consists of a hand-held terminal, a measuring transducer and software for data management by PC. For a specific working pres-sure, the integrated and simultaneous temperature measurement is used to identify jammed steam traps. In addition, the PC software makes it pos-sible to assess the steam losses caused by defective traps, including an economic viability analysis.
