A natural limit to the performance of each heat exchanger exists due to unavoidable deposits on the surfaces. On the water side, there are generally hard, crystalline deposits. On the product side, there are more likely to be soft crystallisations and product residues. Even relatively thin deposits ensure considerable losses with heat transfer. The special cleaner Sotin-IPB 723 was especially developed to clean heat exchangers and stainless steel plates. The cleaner dissolves ochre, calcium, manganese, rust and scale from stainless steel, plastics and rubber parts, includes corrosion inhibitors and is bio-degradable (water hazard class 1). The activation time is between 30 and 60 min – the application concentration and the effective duration of course depend on the level of soiling. IPB 723 has proven effective for CIP cleaning of pipe bundle heat exchangers and when cleaning plate heat exchangers in a submerged bath.
