Service-friendly cover-seal
Developed by Burgmann Industries the new 6850 V cover-seal is particularly service-friendly and simplifies the inspection process. These cover-seals (or Brettschneider seals) come in the form of piece goods with a rectangular cross-section, which means that they can be used for an extremely wide spectrum of applications. They are self-sealing and have already successfully proven their efficiency when used in high pressure valves at high temperatures, for example in power stations.

The braided packing is made from permanently elastic, expanded highgrade graphite foil (M 96 % graphite) without binding agent, and comes with an internally fitted Inconel braid that makes for enhanced stability under pressure. As opposed, for example, to metal seals, it can be easily installed and removed without any risk of damaging the sealing faces and is suited for use with new valves as well as for retrofitting. As a rule, the sealing effect, respectively pretensioning is attained on application of the operating pressure. The seal is highly adaptable in terms of fit, is not subject to hardening, is not dependent on diameter and, when installed as prescribed, ensures high savings potential in terms of time and costs.
The 6850 V cover-seal with its rectangular cross-section is available with the following dimensions: 5 x 12, 7.5 x 15, 10 x 15, 15 x 30 and 20 x 30 mm.
The fact that the packing adapts optimally to slanting surfaces means that these rectangular profiles can also be for slanted sealing areas. Operating limits are: Temperature -200 to +500 °C, temperature with steam as medium max. 550 °C, pressure max. 500 bar and chemical resistance pH 0 to 14.
