DuPont Dow Elastomers has developped a sanitary seal for high purity in pharmaceutical process lines that combines Kalrez perfluoroelastomer with stainless steel to help cut process contamination and downtime, reduce maintenance costs and assure product purity. The sanitary or triclamp seal provides premium sealing performance and a higher level of cleanliness in critical sanitary piping systems used by the bioprocessing and pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, the company states.
The Kalrez sanitary seal provides:
- high sealing performance for maximum efficiency with FDA compliancy
- extractable levels comparable to PTFE
- resistance to high operating temperatures (up to 250 °C)
- a concave inside diameter designed to minimize elastomer intrusion during process operations
