In many processes the occurrence of ignition sources in the form of glowing or hot particles cannot be completely excluded. If these ignition sources are transported into filters and silos, devastating fires or explosions might be caused. The GreCon safety information system (SIS) supplies software which collects and processes the data from different incidents.
A spark detection and extinguishment zone usually consists of two spark detectors and one extinguishing device. The spark detectors detect the infrared radiation of the ignition sources without delay and trigger, via the control console, the extinguishing device in a split second. When no sparks are detected any more, extinguishment is automatically reset, and the system is immediately ready again. Production usually continues without interruption unless an extinguishing time of five seconds is exceeded. If it is exceeded, the equipment that is creating sparks can be shut down via voltage-free contacts.
The GreCon safety information system (SIS) supplies newly developed software which collects and processes the data from different incidents. Each incident gets an exact time stamp, and the incidents of the current day are compared with those of the last day, the last week and the last month. Clear graphics show, at a glance, where irregularities occurred.
In combination with a GreCon spark detection and extinguishment system, the system enables the operator, for the first time, to react to deviations immediately. Spark detection and extinguishment systems reliably detect small sparks caused by processing machines and extinguish them safely. If sparks occur more and more frequently, it can be assumed that the monitored machine is likely to have an accident. By means of SIS, this deviation can be recognised very early, and automatic information is given to the operator, who can check the machine and, if necessary, shut it down in time before damage is caused that in the extreme case might result in an explosion. Especially in large factories, a comprehensible and timely evaluation of all incidents is hardly possible without SIS.
The system is able to monitor several control consoles at the same time and transfer the incident data to different work places via the customer‘s network. The integrated GreCon remote control monitor (RCM) makes centralised operation of the connected control consoles possible.
