PBI-Dansensor has developed a compact online micro leak system giving the possibility of testing packages in complete shipping/display cartons. By using the CO2 already available in the MA packages as trace gas it is now possible to test all packages for leaks shortly after they leave the packaging machine. This test method is non-destructive and furthermore it is possible to test 4 to 5 shipping cartons/minute.
The basic principle of all PBI-Dansensor’s leak detectors are identical: the package is placed inside a test chamber and a user-defined vacuum is created. The vacuum in the test chamber will establish a pres- sure difference between the inside of the package and the test chamber causing CO2 from the package to enter the test chamber through even the smallest leak. A highly sensitive sensor is able to measure all changes in the CO2 content and will detect even micro leaks.
