The totally oil-less piston compressors in the TOG series produce a final pres-sure of up to 170 bar in the power range up to 30 kW. In the past, only oil-lubricated compressors have been suitable for this power class, if the expense associated with diaphragm compressors was to be avoided. The oil-less piston compressors are suitable for both continuous and intermittent operation and can thus be used for virtually all applications.
The high-pressure design of the TOG series is based on the Haug TO compressor family. Operation of the compressors is completely dry, in other words without any cylinder lubrication and with no oil bath in the crankcase. Contamination of the compressed gas with lubricating oil is reliably excluded as a result. Oil-less means that the compressor contains not a single drop of oil anywhere. This technology is therefore a natural choice for all processes that demand maximum possible safety, such as applications in the pharmaceutical and electronics industries. An important side-effect is the saving in operating and filter replacement costs.
The two-stage high-pressure unit consists of two cylinders arranged one above the other. This patented design was specially developed to enable small diameter stages to be used in the high-pressure range, thereby permitting a compact layout. The volumetric efficiency is also good, thanks to the elimination of large dead volumes. The design has been optimised to ensure that the dry-running piston rings are exposed to only low differential pressures.
Tailor-made compressor solutions
The oil-less compressors are suitable for both continuous and intermittent operation and can thus be used for virtually all applications. Their modular structure facilitates tailor-made solutions. Compression can be split into as many as five stages, depending on the needs of the particular application. Both air and water-cooled versions are available. In gas compression applications, the intake pressure may rise as high as 25 bar. A permanently tight drive system featuring a magnetic coupling assures maximum gas tightness even at pressures of this magnitude. The wear-free concept seals the compressor-drive train off from the atmosphere using the no-contact principle. Static sealing can hence be accomplished everywhere with O-ring seals. Among the further advantages of the compressors are:
- Zero gas leakage
- Flow rates: 10 to 100 Nm³/h
- Motor power: 5.5 to 30 kW
- Compressor speed: 750 to 1450 rpm
- Piston speed: 1.2 to 2.4 m/s
- Number of cylinders: 1 to 5
- Number of stages: 1 to 5
