With its MAK685, Burgmann has launched a series of magnetic couplings which, together with the NMB heavy duty couplings, offers a wide range of applications in the higher pressure and performance range. The MAK685 is ideal for use on API 685-compliant process pumps in the chemical industry and refinery sector with a power output of up to 90 kW, while the NMB extends the power range up to 300 kW. The universal modular coupling concept for pumps is based on the proven MAK66 series and available with a choice of two solenoid variants, namely the samarium-cobalt version for applications involving operating temperatures of up to +350 °C and the neodymium-iron-boron version for temperatures up to a maximum of 120 °C. The circulation of the product-lubricated friction bearing is separate from the can’s cooling flow. This gives the friction bearing enhanced efficiency of operation and a combination with coolable or heatable bearings is possible. Where gas bearing media are concerned, the gas content is efficiently led away from the can compartment via a hollow shaft, thereby ensuring that the friction bearing is not subject to any dry running.
