The FFKM compound Perlast ICE G75LT from COG sets a standard in sealing applications with extremely low temperatures. It is usable where low and/or high temperature performances are present and aggressive chemical conditions exist. Common standard FFKM compounds can only be used down to -15 °C. This is not enough for various applications. Special FFKM compounds which are added with additives can achieve some kind of low temperature flexibility but in many cases not over a long period of time. The additives leak out of the compound when the temperature changes, i. e. when pressure alternates. The result is that the low temperature flexibility and in condition to that the sealing performance gets worse and the seal fails in the end.
Perlast ICE G75LT is able to achieve a long term low temperature resistance down to -40 °C (TR 10 value of -32 °C) by structural changes to the polymer itself. This is the reason why a long term sealing performance in applications with low temperatures is possible. Due to its low permeability the compound is also less prone to swelling and enables an extended in-service performance in valves, pumps and mechanical seals. Further characteristics are:
