Whenever gentle mixing and drying of sensitive products of high value is required, this is a case for Krauss-Maffei’s mixer-dryer. It is predominantly used for pharmaceutical products and fine chemicals, and is preferably operated under a vacuum or also at atmospheric pressure or under gauge pres-sure.
Major improvements now have been carried out in the area of the drive unit. The drive is of modular design and is arranged beneath and on the side of the process area. It has easy access for maintenance. Sealing units and bearing assembly are assembled in a single cartridge which can be replaced without necessitating removal of the screw. The vapor filter has been integrated in the vessel. This provides a substantially reduced overall height which consequently requires less space.
All peripheral equipment required, such as vacuum, heating, cleaning and solids handling systems are of module design. This reduces engineering costs, shortens commissioning times and minimizes any risk.
