Flexible connections
Machinery for processing bulk materials such as powders or granulates need flexible connectors at various positions to connect moving equipment parts with stationary ones or simply to take up variances in ducting or pipework once a plant is put together on site. The patented BFM fitting available from Walter Gerätebau connects your equipment parts from the inside with an integrated snap ring and a special seal. This creates a smooth bore from the connection point of the connector to the spigot, which eliminates the traditional ledge or crevasse where dust previously would have been trapped between the spigot and the sleeve. The spring steel snap ring can easily be opened by hand so that the fittings can be taken out and exchanged literally within seconds. Once installed, the BFM fittings are 100 % dust tight, they won’t slip out of place even by most violent machine movements, will suffer from minimal wear and withstand even explosions inside the system which would have destroyed the conventional hose clips and therefore caused potentially large human and capital damage in the plant. Ideal applications for the BFM fittings are vibration and sifter sieves, vibrating feeders, live bottom bin dischargers, weighing sleeves, vent socks etc. The various available connector materials are FDA approved, Atex certified and heat as well as chemical resistant. The transparency of the material allows a continuous visual inspection of the product flow at the connection point.
