The successful implementation of the Max-Flow filter system in the chemicals industry marks a milestone for GKD in the development of this compact filter unit. At the Marl Chemical Park, five Max-Flow units with integrated sludge briquetting are now being used by the PVC producers Vestolit. At the complex, the polluted effluent streams vary in composition and volume. The challenge was to provide a system which would not only react optimally and immediately to changes in the level of contamination, but also compress the liquid residue of the filtration process into a compact waste product. Vestolit now relies on Max-Flow units with their full stainless steel bodies and 3-ply Ymax blended mesh to reduce the volume of waste for disposal by up to fifty percent. During filtration of effluent with varying levels of pollution, the Max-Flow units also automatically control the intervals at which backwashing is required.
