Parker Lucifer developed the EExPress fieldbus-compatible manifold which allows pneumatic actuation systems to be sited in hazardous processing environments. The EExPress bus manifold is a stackable valve island system that fully integrates 5/2 solenoid valves, control electronics and input sensors for Zone 1 and 2 environments. It is compatible with the Profibus DP fieldbus. One Profibus address can operate up to 32 individual 5/2 modular solenoid valves, or a combination of valves and actuator position sensors. The valve island’s fieldbus compatibility also supports advanced remote diagnostics down to individual valve and sensor level – further supporting the demanding needs of the continuous processing sector. The fieldbus connection to the terminal can be made by either optical fibre or copper with the aid of intrinsic safety circuits.
