Bellows valves set standard

Bellows valves set standard
The new generation of Faba bellows valves with 100 % tight shut-off technology
Reliably tight in harsh environments – the bellows valves of the latest generation boast better performance and undergo rigid quality controls to ensure they meet even the most challenging specification. Three versions and more than 17,000 variants also mean unprecedented flexibility for any application.

Each variant in ARI-Armaturen’s newly developed Faba generation guarantees optimal closing. Amongst other things, this is achieved due to the conical shape of the marginal seat, which causes surface deposits to be cut away (“cut effect“). The metal plug/seat design (conical plug made of hardened stainless steel), which simultaneously increases the seat pressure and extends the service life, is another important innovation. The fine-threaded stem for all sizes is the third key component of the 100 % tight shut-off technology.

All Faba valves undergo rigid quality controls to ensure they meet even the most challenging specification. A final test with air (leakage rate 1 according to DIN 3230 or “A“ according to DIN EN 12266) is compulsory along with a helium test on the bellows, which additionally has to withstand more than 10,000 complete cycles in a series of endurance trials.
Three strong versions
Faba-Plus is the valve version for all standard situations. The special bonnet design not only adds to the valve’s eye-catching effect, it also makes it more resistant to water hammer pulses. Handling of the valve is now even more convenient. The ergonomics of the new handwheel, the reduction in weight brought about by the new bonnet and easy-to-install limit switch (no need to loosen the cap screws; intellectual property rights are registered) are only a few of the fascinating innovations that will be presented by ARI. The recessed lubricating nipple and the separate, flat locking device are likewise an advantage. What’s more, with its marginal seat geometry as standard, Faba-Plus is exceptionally versatile because the loose plug means it can simultaneously be used as a check valve with a shut-off feature. Thanks to the return spring, it can now be installed in any position.
The Plus version is available in grey cast iron, nodular cast iron, cast steel, forged steel or stainless steel with a nominal pressure from PN 16 to PN 40 and in ANSI 150 or 300. Like the other variants Supra i and Supra C, ARI will offer Faba-Plus in a straight-through, angle pattern or Y-pattern design with butt weld ends, screwed sockets or ANSI connections.
The Supra i version is predestined for chal-lenging industrial applications. It features a reinforced bellows (10,000 complete cycles) welded to the top part of the body. As a result, it is now more reliable than ever. A bellows cover affords additional protection against water hammer while the rugged stem guide allows the valve to be used at higher differential pressures.
Supra i also remains reliably tight in harsh industrial environments owing to the double-wall bellows seal, the welded seat and the double secondary seal (back sealing of the stem and safety stuffing box with gland). The top part of the body can optionally be welded to the bottom part. This Faba model can now be used even more flexibly due to the option of a one- or two-piece stem – for example for retrofitting with an actuator.
The Supra i version is available in cast steel, stainless steel or forged steel with a nom-inal pressure from PN 16 to PN 40 and in ANSI 150 or 300.
The version Supra C is specially designed for use in chemical plants. Its most important characteristic is a reinforced – and liquid contacted – bellows that is welded to the top part of the body (10,000 complete cycles). This liquid contact of the bellows makes the valve suitable for product fluids.
Like the Supra i version, Supra C can now be used even more flexibly due to the option of a one- or two-piece stem (for example for retrofitting with an actuator).
At the same time, it has been made more reliable than ever due to the additional stem guide via the parabolic plug, so that higher differential pressures are possible.
The Supra C version is available in cast steel, stainless steel or forged steel with a nominal pressure from PN 16 to PN 40 and in ANSI 150 or 300.
