The HMT-1Z1 head mounted tablet is a powerful head-worn computer that is controlled by voice commands. This augmented reality device was very well received by international visitors to the Achema trade fair in Frankfurt. With its intuitive hands-free operation, the HMT is ideal for companies seeking to digitally transform work and production processes.

Automation and the Internet of Things make it necessary for modern mobile solutions to also be used in safety-critical environments. I.safe Mobile is a specialist for mobile communication devices that guarantee safe use in hazardous areas. The company incorporates all international standards into its product development and is itself a member of relevant standardisation committees. Its products meet the Atex and IECEx standards for explosion protection as well as the high performance and communication requirements for use in increasingly digitised and networked work and production processes.

To enable hands-free installation and servicing, I.safe mobile developed the HMT-1Z1 head mounted tablet in cooperation with Silicon Valley company Realware. The HMT-1Z1 is an intuitive and completely hands-free, head-worn device for work in zone 1 and 21 hazardous areas. The Android computer, which can be integrated into all common helmets, features voice control, a powerful processor and a high-resolution microdisplay that adapts individually to the line of sight. Certified to Atex or CSA Class I, II, III Division 1, the HMT-1Z1 is perfectly suited for tasks in the oil, gas and chemical industries. The IP 66 rating means it is water-resistant and dustproof while MIL-STD-810G indicates that it has passed a drop test from a height of 2 m.

Explosion-proof mobile devices

I.safe mobile also presented another series of robust mobile devices for zones 1 and 21 – the IS520.1 industrial smartphone –
at the Achema show in addition to the augmented reality solution. Besides the important Atex and IECEx standards for explosion protection it also meets the high performance and communication requirements for use in networked industries. Apart from robust smartphones the portfolio currently includes the IS910.1 Tablet with Android 8.0 Oreo. This combines the ruggedness of an IP 68-certified tablet with Atex and approvals for safe use in potentially explosive environments. The 8″ glass capacitive Rugdisplay with a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels (WUXGA, 16:10 aspect ratio) works with
a Qualcomm 2.0 GHz octa-core processor, which is powered by an 8400 mAh battery – sufficient for even long periods of operation. Support for the LTE band and current Wi-Fi standards ensure a fast connection
to the Internet. The robust tablet can also be controlled via Bluetooth 4.1 LE or NFC. The main memory of the IS910.1 has 3 GB and the 32 GB internal data memory can be expanded by a further 32 GB with a microSD card. The almost identical IS910.2 is available for the less explosive zones 2 and 22.
